My client, a reputable company in Cork is looking for a Senior Accountant on a permanent basis. This is a permanent position that offers a very competitive salary, career progression, full benefits and a hybrid working policy.
The Role:

Month-End Closing:
- Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all financial reporting activities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis to ensure the integrity of financial results.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure all accounting transactions are captured correctly.

Balance Sheet Reviews:
- Perform detailed balance sheet reviews, identifying any discrepancies or areas of concern and addressing them in a timely manner.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled and all supporting documentation is complete and accurate.

SOX Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements by maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring internal controls are followed.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support to ensure audit readiness.
- Regularly assess and improve internal controls to mitigate risks and maintain compliance.

Payroll Bookings:
- Oversee payroll accounting and ensure accurate payroll bookings for at least three countries.
- Work closely with HR and payroll teams to ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
- Ensure that payroll entries are timely, accurate, and in line with company policies.

Cross-Country Accounting Support:
- Manage and review accounting transactions for multiple regions, ensuring adherence to both local accounting standards and global company policies.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements, ensuring intercompany transactions are properly recorded.

Continuous Improvement:
- Proactively recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Stay updated on accounting best practices, local and international regulations, and changes in tax laws affecting payroll and financial reporting.
Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant – ACCA, ACA, CPA or CIMA
- 2 Years PQE in a Multinational/SSC environment
- Big 4 or Practice experience an advantage
- Knowledge of ERP Systems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
