We are seeking a skilled Quant Analyst, you will work closely with traders and risk managers to develop and implement models that drive decision-making in gas trading. You will analyse market data, forecast price movements, and develop strategies to optimize profitability across European gas markets. Your quantitative expertise will be critical in supporting intraday and longer-term trading strategies in a fast-paced and evolving market environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain quantitative models to support gas trading strategies, including price forecasting, risk management, and market analysis.
  • Analyse historical and real-time market data to identify trading opportunities and optimize portfolio performance.
  • Collaborate with gas traders and risk managers to adjust strategies based on market dynamics and pricing trends.
  • Apply statistical methods, machine learning techniques, and time-series analysis to enhance gas price prediction models.
  • Conduct back-testing, model validation, and performance analysis to ensure robust model accuracy.
  • Stay informed on European gas market fundamentals, regulations, and geopolitical factors that impact market behaviour.
  • Work closely with data engineers and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of models into trading systems and platforms.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong experience in quantitative modelling, with a focus on energy trading, preferably in gas markets.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or MATLAB, and experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Solid understanding of European gas market fundamentals, supply-demand dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of trading systems and real-time data platforms (e.g., Reuters, Bloomberg).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced trading environment.
