PE Global Recruitment is currently working on behalf of a leading utility infrastructure organisation to source Power Systems Engineers for exciting permanent opportunities in Dublin, Cork, and Limerick.

These roles offer the chance to work on mission-critical infrastructure projects supporting the country’s Net Zero Strategy and Climate Action targets. Engineers in these positions will play a key role in enabling the electrification of transport and heating, as well as supporting the integration of renewable energy and high-demand customers onto the national grid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Planning & Analysis: Carry out comprehensive distribution network assessments to support operational efficiency and reliability. Use industry-standard software (e.g. Synergi, PSS® Sincal) for load flow studies and impact assessments related to generation, renewables, and demand growth.

  • Customer Connections: Review and process new connection applications in line with internal policies and regulatory standards. Engage directly with customers to explain proposed technical solutions.

  • Project Management: Take ownership of innovation and planning improvement initiatives from scoping through to implementation.

  • Technical Documentation: Prepare documentation to support capital project proposals, including feasibility reports, investment appraisals, and technical endorsements.

  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with customers, developers, planning bodies, local authorities, regulators, and other utility partners to ensure alignment and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in an engineering role, ideally within utilities or energy infrastructure.

  • Solid technical ability with a proven track record of delivering high-quality engineering outputs.

  • Strong communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.

  • Analytical thinker with the ability to develop innovative solutions to technical challenges.

  • Full clean driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Background in system planning or grid connection studies.

  • Experience with power quality investigations or the development of planning standards.

  • Familiarity with power systems analysis tools (e.g. Synergi, PSS® Sincal).

  • Knowledge of transmission or distribution system master planning.

Location & Working Arrangement Positions are available across Dublin, Cork, and Limerick in modern, well-connected offices. A flexible hybrid working model is in place, offering a blend of remote and on-site work. On-site attendance is agreed with line management and is subject to ongoing review based on team and project needs.
