PE Global are partnered with a leading Data Centre construction organisation focused on sustainable construction in the industry.  They are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join the team in Dublin. This role will require some international travel. 

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our data centre construction team in Dublin. In this role, you will play a key part in the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems within our data centre projects. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, project teams, and external contractors to ensure efficient and high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the mechanical engineering aspects of data centre construction projects from design to completion.

  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and construction teams to integrate mechanical systems into overall project development.

  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC, cooling systems, piping, and fire protection systems.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices for mechanical infrastructure in data centres.

  • Conduct site inspections, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.

  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to multidisciplinary teams.

  • Stay updated with the latest mechanical engineering technologies and sustainability practices within the data centre industry.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Experience in mechanical engineering within data centre construction or large-scale industrial projects.

  • Strong understanding of cooling systems, HVAC design, thermal management, and energy efficiency.

  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, including ASHRAE, CIBSE, and local building codes.

  • Proficiency in engineering design software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or similar).

  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience with sustainability initiatives, energy-efficient technologies, and carbon reduction strategies in mechanical systems.

  • Familiarity with data centre reliability standards (Uptime Institute, Tier classifications, etc.).

  • Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or sustainability (LEED, BREEAM) are advantageous.
