Lab Supervisor to work evening shift roster, successful candidate will report to the Laboratory Operations Manager and will assist in coordinating operations of area primarily on the late shift and weekend, whilst ensuring that all activities are conducted to the highest standards. This role will assist the Laboratory Operations Manager / Technical Lead in ensuring that all lab activities are in line with health and safety policies and documented standard operating procedures with a focus on management of team troubleshooting any technical issues.

Specific Responsibilities

To perform routine and specialist analytical testing on a range of biological samples.

 

To lead the operations in their area primarily on the late shift and weekend, whilst ensuring that all activities are conducted to the highest standards.

 

To assist the Laboratory Operations Manager / Technical Lead in the coordination and management of laboratory operations and service delivery within the area.

 

To assist the Laboratory Operations Manager / Technical Lead with the management of all members of their operational team in the area including areas such as work schedules, performance, training & development, housekeeping, safety, quality, and documentation to ensure the laboratory is run at maximum efficiency.

 

To coordinate the onboarding and training of Laboratory scientists and other trainee scientists in their area when required and ensure training records are in line with requirements set out by Quality Department.

 

To drive troubleshooting within their area to identify root causes of any assays not meeting required QC metrics and manage the reported though the quality system with NCs/IRs/CAPA

 

To support Laboratory Operations Manager / Technical Lead to ensure the laboratory is functioning within the prescribed financial budget.

 

To work closely with the Quality Manager, to ensure that working practices within the laboratory are in line with ISO17025 standards and/or other relevant accreditations.

 

To ensure that working practices within the laboratory are in line with company Health and Safety regulations.

 

To ensure equipment is properly maintained carrying out performance checks as per SOPs and reporting any non-conforming/ issues with equipment to the quality manager in a timely manner.

 

To manage stock in their area, monitoring inventory levels and carrying out daily stock checks and counts and reporting low inventory levels to Laboratory Operations Manager / Technical Lead.

 

To support their team with day to day tasks and prioritization of workload communicating to senior management if any deadlines or projects are at risk in advance.

 

To assist the sample receipt and preparation team with the processing of samples to ensure turnaround times are achieved if/when needed.

 

To lease with Seniors of other departments to track the progress of samples throughout the laboratory to ensure efficient processing within required TATs.

 

To carry out procedures accurately and according to standard operating procedures in order to produce reliable data and results.

 

To manage project tracking files ensuring they are updated daily as required, using the information to track and assess KPIs and feeding back key notes to senior management.

 

To ensure the safe and correct disposal of chemical residue and other waste.

This role is for an immediate start preferably. Contracts has an expected 5 month duration. Candidates will be working evening shift only.
