IT Support Technician

PE Global is currently recruiting for an I.T. Support Technician/Analyst for an initial 12-month contract role with a leading multinational Diesel Engines Manufacturer client based in Peterborough.

As an I.T. Technician based in Peterborough UK, you will be responsible for the deployment and support of Computers and related systems that host our automated power system test solutions.  You will work closely with the wider Test Data Systems team and our internal partners in Test Operations, Engineering and Global Information Services Team.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide frontline support for Lab PC related breakdowns (Hardware, Accounts, OS).
• Work directly on complex technical problems, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
• Ensure issues are documented and lessons learned are used to improve processes and procedures going forward.
• Use existing standard work instructions to build and commission new systems as needed.
• Maintain Standard Work Instructions and create new Standard Work as required.
• Support validation testing of new software updates/versions before deployment to test cells.
• Support PC Lifecycle Management.
• Manage accounts used across our systems.
• Manage Software Licenses and renewals.
• Find opportunities to improve the tools, processes and solutions we use to manage our I.T. environment.

Requirements

• Requires a relevant degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience
• Good working knowledge of MS-Windows, installation, configuration and administration
• Experienced with patch and vulnerability management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including ability to troubleshoot system interaction issues, identify root causes and develop appropriate solutions
• Strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Passion for the rapidly developing I.T. landscape, keeping up to date with industry trends and developments

Desirable:

• Experience with scripting and/or coding in one or more language (Batch-script, Bash, Powershell, Python, C, C++, C#, .Net etc.) and an appetite to further develop scripting and coding ability within the role.
• Experience working in a Laboratory, Test or Production environment
