PE Global are delighted to be working with our client who are a leading Irish company specialising in Building Management Systems, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning and energy efficiency solutions.
They provide services such as system design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance across various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, data centres, hospitals, and retail units.
We are now actively recruiting for an experienced for a Health and Safety Manager to oversee and implement our health and safety policies across a dynamic and mobile workforce. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with Irish health and safety legislation and promote a culture of safety in our operations, primarily in HVAC and BMS services.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Health and Safety Compliance
Ensure the company complies with all relevant Irish health and safety legislation, standards, and regulations.
Oversee regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
Manage maintain and enhance all health and safety documentation.
Ensure the company is compliant with the requirements of ISO 45001 and 14001 while managing the yearly recertification effort.
- Training and Development
Manage the delivery of safety training programs for employees, including inductions, toolbox talks, refreshers and specialised training for mobile and site-based technicians.
Keep staff updated on new regulations, procedures, and best practices.
- Incident Management
Lead investigations into workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring root causes are identified and addressed.
Maintain records of incidents on the company’s electronic quality management system and prepare reports for senior management and statutory bodies as required.
- Policy and Process Development
Manage the maintenance and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures specific to HVAC and BMS service, maintenance and projects.
Ensure compliance with relevant Irish health and safety laws
Regularly review and update risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safe operating procedures.
Ensure contractors and subcontractors adhere to company safety policies.
Oversee correct sub-contractor onboarding
- On-Site Safety Management
Manage regular site audit routines to ensure compliance with safety policies, focusing on high-risk construction, HVAC and BMS activities, while also supporting office-based staff and their day-to-day activities.
Support project managers and supervisors in implementing safe work practices.
Manage audits of tools, equipment and vehicles used by mobile engineers.
Provide recommendations and corrective actions for identified non-compliance or risks.
- Collaboration and Reporting
Report to senior management monthly on health and safety performance, highlighting trends and recommendations.
Collaborate with operations, HR, and management to integrate safety into all business processes.
Actively foster a positive safety culture in all areas of the company.
Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies to address safety concerns and ensure compliance with site-specific requirements.
- Continuous Improvement:
Monitor industry developments and implement best practices in health and safety.
Develop initiatives to foster a proactive safety culture across the organisation.
REQUIREMENTS
- Qualifications:
Third Level Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
Professional membership with IOSH (desirable).
- Experience:
At least 3 years’ experience in a health and safety management role, preferably within the HVAC, construction, or BMS sectors.
Experience managing safety in a mobile workforce environment.
- Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of Irish health and safety legislation.
Knowledge of HVAC and BMS operations and associated risks (advantageous).
- Skills:
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Travel: Based in our Cork office location, some travel to project sites and client locations predominantly in Munster and Leinster.
- Driving License: Full clean driving license is essential.

REMUNERATION & CONDITIONS
- Excellent salary & conditions of contracts available to the right candidate.
- Preferably located in Cork, but Dublin would be considered for the right candidate.
