PE Global are delighted to be working with our client, a dedicated data centre delivery partner, and we are pleased to announce we are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Lead for a large data centre project in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Our client is a dedicated data centre delivery partner providing turnkey solutions to our clients, headquartered in Dublin and delivering throughout Europe.

They specialise in providing turnkey data centre solutions, providing services from design, through to construction across the full range of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical services as well as commissioning.

Our client has grown to become the leading and most trusted company in our sector and is the only dedicated Data Centre delivery partner in Europe.

We are currently constructing multiple turnkey data centre projects in 7 different European countries, equating to over 430 MW of IT load in flight.

Due to continued expansion as a direct result of winning new business, we are pleased to announce that we are currently seeking an experienced a Health & Safety Lead to join our team on-site in Amsterdam.

Below is a list of typical duties but is not exclusive of all duties that are required to be carried out during the project.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to the client’s Safety Management System, Environmental Health & Safety statutory provisions, and relevant legislation.
  • Develop and maintain Construction Stage Plans, method statements, risk assessments, Safe Plans of Action, and H&S permits to work.
  • Monitor compliance with Project Execution Plans and ensure the implementation of Good Safety Practices across the organization.
  • Conduct ongoing C.O.S.H.H assessments and manage the control of hazardous substances.
  • Perform regular site audits and inspections, document findings, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Ensure that safety interventions are completed and documented.
  • Maintain and manage records of statutory inspections and ensure they are available for project activities, tools, and equipment.
  • Take a proactive approach to project EHS requirements and ensure sub-contractors adhere to EHS policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate, manage, and maintain site inductions and training and subcontractor personnel.
  • Ensure that project PPE is appropriately resourced.
  • Assist or lead accident investigations and communicate reports promptly to the project management team.
  • Ensure welfare and hygiene facilities are in place, managed, and maintained.
  • Compile and deliver toolbox talks as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for the Safety File.
  • Participate in daily activity briefings and whiteboard meetings.
  • Ensure that waste reduction and recycling programs are in place, following project policies.
  • Report regularly on H&S performance metrics and keep senior management informed of departmental progress.

 

Requirements

  • A relevant third-level degree in Environmental Health & Safety or Construction Management/Engineering.
  • Minimum of 9+ years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the data centre, commercial, industrial, or pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Experience managing environmental health and safety on large construction sites (minimum of 3+ years).
  • Able to manage and lead a team of safety professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of current Environmental Health & Safety legislation.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk BIM360 Field software is desirable.
  • Process-driven with a focus on quality management systems and safety practices.
  • Strong communication and computer skills, with the ability to maintain reporting databases and manage associated documentation.
  • Ability to work independently, showing initiative and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing working patterns as necessary.
