Electrical Design Engineer

PE Global are currently recruiting for a Electrical design engineer to join our client, a leading infrastructure contractor to be based in Dublin.

The Role;

In our rapidly growing company, we are looking for adaptable, highly motivated, and talented individuals to join us. The chosen candidate will be given opportunities to develop their career, with training on new technology and significant experience in lighting infrastructure improvement schemes.

In addition, carry out all aspects of the Electrical Design process for public lighting installations. Taking ownership of the design on-site survey works for column replacement or new lighting schemes which include assessing suitable column positions and the preparation of drawings, risk assessments, schedules and associated works.

Key Accountabilities

• Set high safety standards, understand our risks and demonstrate safety culture.
• Taking ownership of the safety of construction operatives by preparing detailed design risk assessments
• Undertake on-site survey works for design of lighting schemes to ensure compliant with our PSDP responsibilities
• Undertake design calculations according to appropriate standards & the project specification
• Design schemes with the aim of minimising energy consumption / construction costs
• Preparation of drawings, schedules and associated documentation
• Liaise with various clients including site meetings to ensure the successful implementation and delivery of projects
• Administration on all aspects of the Electrical design process
• Provide technical support and communicate effectively with key stakeholders (such as Local authorities, Team Managers, Contract Managers etc.)
• New development works – Assist in providing estimates for design and deal with contracts by purposing equal or approved material to achieved best price.
• Provide Technical advice (Design, products, pricing) for all stakeholders
• Assistance with Project Handover to operations (Drawings, Cable Calcs, project portfolio)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD (Required), cable calculations software, general office applications and appropriate Company systems an advantage.
• Experience with Electrical wiring regulations, ET 10101 -2020, BS 5489, Cable calculations, and Electrical design requirements essential
• Appropriate Third level qualification relevant to Electrical industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of Electrical theory and lighting theory.
• Good organisational skills
• Work independently incorporating short notice changes and demands
• A systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills
• Team player (share information; work for common good)
• Demonstrate a keen interest in Electrical with CPD (Continual Professional Development) records & appropriate memberships (Engineers Ireland)
• An understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations and IEE Wiring Regulations
