PE Global is currently recruiting for an Economist for a leading international energy company based in London.

Duties of the role/Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the finance team to ensure investment evaluations align with budget forecasts and financial targets.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to inform investment proposals and strategic planning decisions.
  • Conduct thorough economic evaluations for investment and divestment decisions to support company strategy.
  • Oversee the investment monitoring process and manage the preparation of releases.
  • Coordinate with technical departments and HQ to gather capital and operating cost data for effective planning.
  • Maintain and continuously update the company’s economic evaluation models.
  • Develop economic evaluations and reports to meet regulatory and lender requirements.
  • Contribute data for periodic regulatory and lender reports.
  • Provide economic analyses for corporate reporting that align with accounting standards and governance practices.

Education/Experience

  • University Degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Management, or equivalent.
  • Experience working as an Economist in the Exploration & Production sector of the Oil & Gas Industry or in a UK-regulated business.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and commercial frameworks within the energy sector.
  • Proficiency in economic modelling with excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Numerate with a solid grasp of financial markets and foreign exchange dynamics.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, with strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to develop financial forecasts and assist in investment planning processes.
  • Familiarity with energy market trends, including supply-demand dynamics and pricing structures.
  • Deadline-oriented with a structured and methodical approach to completing tasks.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex economic data.
  • Support management in strategic planning by providing detailed economic assessments of market trends.
  • Experience liaising with regulatory bodies and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
