Consultant – Haematology

The position, involves conducting Haematology OPD clinics, supporting chemotherapy units, and in-patient care. Responsibilities include joining the intra-thecal chemotherapy register and assisting in treatments. The role also requires visits to other hospital sites for clinics and other duties. Opportunities for sub-specialty development and active participation in research are available, with mentorship provided by senior team members. Job responsibilities

  • This full-time (10 PA) position, involves Haematology OPD clinics, support for chemotherapy units, and in-patient care.
  • The role includes joining the trust’s intra-thecal chemotherapy register and assisting in treatments.
  • Candidates may develop sub-specialty areas and engage in research.
  • Mentorship is provided, and applicants with specific subspecialty interests are encouraged.
  • Responsibilities also include supervision of junior staff, support for laboratory haematology, participation in MDT meetings, and contributions to quality management.
  • Urgent and Emergency Care duties, including on-call, will comply with working time regulations and safety standards. Part-time applications will be considered.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Medical Degree from recognised medical school
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • FRCPath or equivalent

Desirable

  • Medical School Prizes
  • Teaching qualification
  • Higher degree

Experience

Desirable

  • Computer literate
  • Specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work.

GMC Registration

Essential

  • Please state GMC number.
  • Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT

Management Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Good time management.

Desirable
