PharmEng was established in 2005 and started by providing engineering services to pharmaceutical companies in Europe. In a short space of time, we became an expert technical recruitment agency specialising in life sciences in Ireland, the UK and the rest of Europe.

In the space of two years, the company embarked on a growth journey driven by market dynamics. This expansion in 2007 led to diversification into global sectors such as Medical Healthcare and Oil & Gas, responding to evolving demands.

At the time, there was a growing demand for engineers and contractors in various industries across the world, prompting our company to make the strategic decision to expand our services. This expansion aimed to provide resources for international engineering and construction firms operating in fields such as Construction, Mining, Renewable Energy, and IT.

Concurrently, Locum Express was established as part of the PE Global Group with a specialised focus on supplying doctor locums and contractors. These professionals catered to the short and long-term needs of both public and private healthcare organisations.

In 2010 we rebranded to PE Global to facilitate our growth into these new sectors and services.

Followed shortly after in 2011, PE Global won a contract to provide recruitment services for the Irish Public Healthcare Services – Health Services Executive (HSE).

Building on the achievements of Locum Express, PE Global Healthcare emerged as a new division in 2012. This sector of PE Global undertook the comprehensive recruitment of healthcare personnel, encompassing doctors, nurses/midwives, and Allied Health Professionals (AHP). Additionally, PE Global Healthcare expanded its reach to include ancillary positions like Hospital Management roles and HR Professionals, providing staffing solutions to hospitals situated in Ireland, the UK, Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and various Asian territories.

Roll on 2013 and PE Global won a contract to provide recruitment services in Northern Ireland along with healthcare facilities in the Far & Middle East.

Further expansion saw the opening of a London office in 2015 followed swiftly in 2016 by PE Global Healthcare being awarded a contract to supply temporary staff to clinical positions in the NHS.

PE Global’s growth and success continued in 2017 with the renewal of the HSE contract to supply Doctors, Nurses, HCAs and Social Care Workers across Ireland. On the back of this fantastic news PE Global opened a new Dublin office in 2018.

2020 was a big year for PE Global. It was announced that holding company BPVA acquired the majority shareholding of PE Global. Keith McDonagh was appointed as the new Managing Director. And to cap off 2020, PE Global in the UK moved to a new office in Central London.

Industry recognition was to follow with AgileOne announcing PE Global as a recipient of the 2021 Supplier Excellence Award Winners. In 2022, Kelly OCG awarded PE Global a Supplier Excellence Award for the 9th consecutive year.

Later in 2022, PE Global appointed 4 members to the Board of Directors and announced further expansion with the opening of an office in India. With no sign of slowing down, PE Global announced that we had grown Operating Profit by 85% and turnover of €60m, the creation of 70 new jobs within PE Global and that PE Global had entered the DACH Region.

PE Global celebrated significant achievements in 2023, starting with winning a contract to provide recruitment services to one of the largest global producers of hydrocarbons. PE Global Healthcare also renewed its contract with the Health Services Executive (HSE) to supply recruitment services for Irish public healthcare.

The year saw a surge in new Life Sciences clients, including several leading multinational companies, and the establishment of new divisions of PE Global Energy and PE Global Technology. This growth was accompanied by further expansion of offices in Ireland, the UK, and India, including a new Irish hub in Drogheda.

PE Global’s profitability doubled, and the company earned recognition as a finalist in the Agency of the Year Awards by the Employment & Recruitment Federation in Ireland.

2024 marked another milestone year for PE Global, beginning with the Excellence in Global Recruitment Award and securing major contracts. PE Global Healthcare achieved notable success by being awarded a place on the HSE Framework and becoming one of the few providers of HCAs to the HSE.

In July, PE Global acquired Trust Nurse Services, a UK-based nurse placement firm. Additionally, PE Global launched PE Global Care Connect, offering comprehensive complex care services in the UK, and achieved Care Quality Commission (CQC) approval.

PE Global received further accolades including AgileOne’s Performance Award for Supplier Excellence and Magnit’s Supplier Summit Supplier Excellence Award.

PE Global Healthcare also became a Health Trust Europe (H.T.E.) Framework Provider, authorised to supply NHS staff and listed on the NHS Ethical list.

In late November, PE Global celebrated victory at the ERF Awards, securing the Pharma, Engineering, and Science Award.

PE Global closed out 2024 by announcing it expanded its expertise with the acquisition of QA Resources, specialists in QA, QC, and Validation for Ireland’s Life Sciences sector.

Since our inception, we have become leading experts in recruitment process outsourcing and global recruitment supplying permanent, contract and temporary candidates worldwide. We currently employ just under 150 people in our London, Cork, Dublin and Indian offices. Finally, we look forward to adding to our already rich company history and sharing in our future success.
