Financial Controller

 PE Global is currently recruiting for a Financial Controller to join a public sector organisation based in Galway.  

This is a permanent opportunity with an employer choice in Galway. Reporting into the CEO this position will lead and oversee all aspects of the finance department.  

Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic financial leadership to ensure operations are aligned with the organisation’s missions and objectives
• Provide insights and advice to the CEO and Board on financial matters, including cash flow management, investment decisions and financial risk management.
• Manage and lead an existing finance team.
• Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management accounts, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory frameworks specific to the healthcare sector and charity/not-for-profit regulations.
• Lead the preparation for annual audits and manage the relationship with external auditors, ensuring all financial records and procedures meet audit requirements.
• Ensure the organisation adheres to relevant financial regulations, compliance standards, and internal policies.
• Prepare and present financial information in an accessible format for non-financial stakeholders, including the Board, and support the CEO in delivering key messages to the organisation’s external partners.

Requirements:

• You will be a fully Qualified Accountant and hold accreditation with ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CPA
• You will have a minimum of 5-7 years post qualified experience working within an organisation of a similar scale.
• You will have a strong background in financial reporting, compliance, problem solving and process improvement
• You will have an experience track record of analysing date to make recommendations on financial and organisational strategy
• You will have experience in managing small teams as well as having strong commercial decision-making experience.
• You will have excellent interpersonal skills and previous stakeholder management exposure.
