Role Profile

We have an exciting opportunity in the Operations and Research Finance team in the Governance and Procurement Department. Governance and Procurement Department includes information and data protection, legal, internal audit and risk, grants compliance operations and research finance.

 

The Programme Executive – Research Finance will report to the Operations and Research Finance Programme Manager.

 

The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and innovative team who are committed to the high-quality delivery of financial and governance support to funded research grant programmes. This includes providing financial and governance input during programme design, application review and management of awarded grants. The candidate will also be involved in the implementation of a dedicated Research grant Management System. Finally, the candidate will be responsible for financial administration of our EU research portfolio.

 

This position will play a key role in the Governance and Procurement Department.

 

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

  • A degree (minimum of NFQ Level 7 or greater) in a relevant discipline such as Business, Finance, or Accounting.
  • A minimum of three years’ directly relevant experience working in the area of research grants administration, grant management or finance function.
  • Experience of ensuring compliance with financial controls and procedures.
  • Experience building and maintaining effective working relationships internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including report writing, presenting and public speaking, and the ability to break down financial information.
  • Well-developed IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

 

Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge/Experience of working in the public sector.
  • Knowledge/Experience of EU funded research grants administration.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Analytical in approach to work and a proven ability to provide practical advice in a commercial context.
